Cookies on Muses.

There's not much to say here. Short version: Muses doesn't set tracking cookies, so you won't see a consent banner.

Plain-English summary Muses uses cookieless analytics (Plausible) and stores your virtual portfolio in your browser's local storage. If you create a sign-in account, Netlify Identity stores a login token — also in local storage, not a cookie. Nothing tracks you across other sites. That's why there's no cookie banner.

What Muses sets

Nothing, under normal use. The site itself does not set any first-party cookies.

Local storage (not cookies)

The paper-trading prototype uses your browser's local storage — a separate mechanism from cookies — to keep two things on your device:

  • Your virtual portfolio: trades, balance, watchlist, price history snapshots. This never leaves your browser.
  • If you create a sign-in account via Netlify Identity, a login token (JWT) so you stay signed in between visits.

You can clear both at any time by clearing site data in your browser's settings, or by signing out of the app.

What our processors might set

  • Plausible Analytics. Does not set any cookies and does not generate a persistent visitor ID. See their data policy.
  • Netlify (our host). Netlify may set security cookies for DDoS and bot protection on the edge. These are classified as "strictly necessary" under the EU ePrivacy Directive and do not require consent. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Why no cookie banner?

Consent banners are required under the ePrivacy Directive only for cookies that are not strictly necessary — most commonly tracking, advertising, and non-essential analytics cookies. Muses doesn't use any of those, so there is nothing to consent to. If that ever changes, you'll see a banner before anything non-essential is set.

Third-party embeds

Muses does not currently embed third-party videos, maps, comment systems, or social widgets that would set their own cookies. If we add any in the future, we'll update this page and — if they require consent — add a banner for them.
